NaNoWriMo – Day 9

I’m thrilled that I’m still enthusiastic about NaNoWriMo. I am quite a bit ahead of the recommended daily word count and it would be so easy to starting slacking off. Instead, I feel like I’m getting stronger every day.

It’s interesting that the story I’m writing is beginning to gain additional characters, plot points and all the other miscellania that can make it so interesting. I have new threads that could really make the book grown huge if unchecked or lead to all sorts of possibilities. That is why I write. I love getting surprised by my own subconscious.

I was able to do a bit of writing this morning. Despite my best efforts, I haven’t had a lot of early morning writing success. I think I had one day where I managed 600 words or so, but since then it has been a lot of 300 words or less. The wonderful offset to that has been the ability to write at lunch time. Today I had a fantastic writing output of almost 900 words! That really takes the pressure off when I’m home, especially on a day like this when I have an evening commitment (in this case, Cub Scouts).

Speaking of Scouts, I’m still really jazzed about the Zombie story I started writing (yes, that is project two for NaNo). I’m also hitting my stride in a short story for VG Ford. It is a Pirate/Steampunk/Magic short (for the record, that’s project three for NaNo). Do I think I’m spreading myself too thin? Absolutely. Do I still believe I can finish them all? Well, perhaps not the Zombie story, but the other two? Definitely. It’s almost like, the more I write, the more the ideas flow and the more I actually get down.

If you smell smoke and hear a poof it’s probably only me spontaneously combusting.

Writing Totals for the Day:

Morning: 272 words

Lunch – 868 words

Evening – 1896 words
