Busy busy busy…

Busy busy busy. That seems to be the phrase of the past couple weeks. Between work, Scouts, house, sanity checks, I don’t seem to have a lot of time right now. I keep meaning to post another update and tease you about the upcoming book, but even that is escaping me.

(I know, darn, right? Not getting teased and all)

Work Front

I’ve been very fortunate. My company is extremely forward-thinking regarding working from home, mental health, personal well-being and a host of other things. As much as I prefer working in the office (yes, I am one of those), I have managed to do pretty well working from home. I’m not sure I’ll ever prefer it to being around people but it certainly beats the alternatives.

The final quarter of the year is usually a busy one and this year is even more so. I’ve been very fortunate to have been involved in an exciting project that is taking up large amounts of my mental energy and physical time. That’s okay though. I prefer something interesting to not having enough to do.

Scouts

I’m the Group Commissioner for our group which means I run the monthly meetings, interview incoming/new leaders, ensure my Scout sections have what they need for materials/meeting spaces and a host of other things. I’m also running one of the sections this year which adds an entirely new series of responsibilities.

I want to ensure my youth get the very best experience they can from Scouting, so I’m spending a lot of time with that. It also means I’m going to camps again for the first time in 3-years so some of my weekends aren’t free anymore.

House

I’ll include everything involved in maintaining a household, plus writing/editing, plus family time. We all have those and they take up any spare time we have (as they should).

Sanity Checks

I’m not (entirely) crazy yet, but it’s important to keep checking. The pandemic has been hard on all of us so it’s critical that we take the time to keep ourselves mentally and physically healthy. That can be easier said than done. It’s important to remember there are people out there willing to help. Don’t be afraid to ask.

That’s it for me today. I just wanted to give you all a quick update. This weekend is a Scout camp, which should be fun. I’ll see you on the flip side.
