2010 In Review

I know everyone has been reviewing 2010 since it is the beginning of a new year and I’ve decided to do the same. Why? Because I believe in celebrating successes and identifying problems so I don’t repeat them. So let’s begin with problems. I came into 2010 working a contract. That contract ended in April. I actually started looking for work in January but didn’t find anything until August. I came very close a couple times, but nothing happened until August. 2010, A Mixed Bag, Really

On this, the end of 2010, I find myself reflecting on the past year as so many of us do on New Year’s Eve. As much as I would love to say the past year was the best ever, I’m forced to concede that it’s probably more of a draw than a win. On the plus side (might as well start positive, right?): Sold first, then second, then third short stories EVER. For someone (namely me) who was desperate to get his work published, I count this as a major achievement. Sold first novel, a YA story called “Mik Murdoch, Boy Superhero”. NaNoWriMo – Day 4

Well, I actually did a 1000 words more than I reported yesterday. I’m not sure how I managed it, but I did. So, on to today. I managed about 300 words in the morning before work. Then I actually did some writing at lunch time. It won’t happen often, but it was nice to just sit and plunk away at the keyboard mid-day. I am certainly LOVING the story so far and some of the characters are really coming to life for me. I also had something cool happen. I wrote a scene that was really intended to do little more than transition the story and give a bit more insight into the characters themselves. Sounds kind of boring, right? […]
