Get Published Episode 62 – Negotiating Contracts

I had the good fortune to talk to Robin Sullivan for the show once again. This time she was fresh from negotiating a contract for her husband, Michael Sullivan, with Orbit Books. Robin brings lots of contract experience to this conversation, both from an author’s point-of-view and from the publisher’s. It was a very enjoyable and rewarding conversation for me. I also talk about how writers can go about learning some of the necessary information about their genres of choice: things like who publishes in the genre and how long the books typically are. I hope you enjoy the show. Show Notes 00:00 — Opening – Get Published Episode 62 – Negotiating Contracts Everything has to start somewhere and this […]

That’s Twice Now…

I hate when I miss a deadline and yesterday I missed my weekly post for only the second time since I started my blog. Unfortunately, it is also the second time this year. I’ve talked about this many times and I’m sure you all have experienced it too; life has a tendency to intrude on the little things like writing every day, sleep and having fun. Then I got a job and I tried to keep the pace of writing at the same level with less day to do it in. Then my wife took a second job and I worked and was Mr. Mom at night and I still tried to keep my writing up. Naturally, I crashed and burned. It was a pretty tall horse to climb back up on but I have done so and I’m starting to feel good about it. […]

Get Published Episode 61 – Anealiopalozza

I had the pleasure of hearing John Anealio play at Balticon in 2010 and I was hooked. His music is fun and familiar and very well done. I got to thinking about the things he is doing to promote himself and get his name out there and I saw an instant synergy with my own efforts. I knew I had to get him on the show. I was not disappointed because we had a great conversation about social media, self-promotion and marketing. I got a lot out of the discussion and I think you will too. And, as an added bonus, you get to hear two of John’s songs. I hope you enjoy the show. Show Notes 00:00 — Opening […]
