Decisions

As you may know, I have a book under contract with Five Rivers Publishing. That particular book is scheduled for release next year. I also have several other books written that I haven’t quite decided what to do with yet. For example, my very first novel, a traditional sword and sorcery fantasy hasn’t had a great deal of success finding a publisher. The people who have read it liked it, but it hasn’t found a home yet. I’m considering a few options. The first is to podcast it as is. The second is to rewrite it and podcast it. The third is to self-publish as is and the forth… well, that’s the thing. I could keep going. The reason for […]

Get Published Episode 50 – Self Publishing Has Reached a Tipping Point Pt. 2

Episode 50 is finally here and the second part of the interview is now available. I’ve got to say, the last two years of podcasting have been wonderful. I have learned so much I know I made the right choice when I posted that first episode (even though it was pretty rough). In this episode we, of course, get to hear the second part of Robin’s very enlightening talk about eBooks, self-publishing and online marketing. CA Marshall also spends some time educating us on editors. It’s a great show that I am so proud of for my 50th. Enjoy. When I first talked to Robin I knew she had a wealth of experience and knowledge to share. It wasn’t until I chatted with her via IM that I learned of her interest in self-publishing. As I said, I had planned on interviewing her about the topic of self-publishing and how it has changed for episode 50. Except, once she started talking I realized that there was much more information than a single show could hold. So I broke up the interview into two parts. […]

Things, they are a-changin’

Things have certainly changed since I started podcasting. Even more since I started blogging. For example, when I first started podcasting, the phrase “Self Publishing” carried a terrible odour. People who claimed to be self-published were held akin to vanity presses. Authors with true aspirations of writing full-time wouldn’t tread anywhere near the idea. That has changed a great deal. I know many authors who regularly use services like Smashwords to publish their work and make it available for sale. I have also seen and heard rumblings from several people (including both successful writers and publishers) that the major changes we have seen within the publishing industry are only the tip of the iceberg. I’m still trying to wrap my […]
