NaNo 2017 – Day 12, Relaxation Can Cause Word Shortages

Day 12 was a laid back day. Almost too laid back. I decided to take some time to not do much. I got up late and wrote some, then ran some errands then did some more words.   That’s pretty hard to stop and getting the motivation to put words down was pretty difficult. Challenges for the Day The biggest? Too comfortable and actually relaxing for the first time in days (weeks?), just like yesterday. Number of Words for the Day:  2240 words I had set a pretty aggressive goal of 4,000 words. If I hadn’t left the house, I might have achieved that. But, I didn’t stay home. I ran around doing other things. I’m still pretty happy with what […]

NaNo 2017 – Day 9 – Wow, was that Painful!

Every year I have taken the NaNo challenge I find myself sitting on my hands in December because I managed to wear myself out. Last night I was definitely feeling that way. I had lots of time to write (almost 3 hours), but it was hard to get focused. Challenges for the Day Tired. This has been a long, emotionally draining week. I found myself not as prepared to write as I normally am. Number of Words for the Day:  2355 words I decided the previous day that I was going to hit 20,000 words today. It was a real slog. I’m not actually sure how much of the writing was good and how much was ‘meh’ but it was […]

NaNo 2017 – Day 2 (AKA I have a chapter!)

An amazing thing happened today – I realized I finished the first chapter of my soon-to-be masterpiece. This is important to note as the very first book I wrote took me twenty-five (25) tries and several months. I have now managed it in one try and two days. Perfect first chapter? Not by a long shot. Written and therefore editable? Absolutely! Challenges for the Day Work. Again. Not that it was a bad day. It was quite good actually but it does take away from writing books time. 🙂 We also had the whole family together for dinner. That is a rare thing with both my kids/young adults/young grownups having their own lives. It was awesome but also meant I […]

I Have Books

My copies of Scouts of the Apocalypse: Zombie War have arrived and I couldn’t be happier. They are beautiful and I love the cover more and more every time I look at it. Even better, I was concerned that, because it was significantly different from the first book cover, I would find the difference too jarring. I needn’t have worried. They compliment each other in a way that is really fantastic. I’ve noticed that the print copies are still only available on Amazon.com. I will work to correct that. In the mean time, if you want your own copy (or copies or even other books of mine), please email me (use author at michellplested dot com to contact me). Let […]
