2011 was pretty busy and I got a lot done. I left a lot of things needing finishing touches though too. Since 2012 is looking to be even busier, I need to take these last few days of 2011 to finish them off and plan for the coming year. So what does the new year hold? Well: My first book will be out in print: “Mik Murdoch, Boy Superhero”. I should also have at least one self-published book out too; I will also be working with Jeff Hite on the Mad Scientist Anthology (which begins to accept submissions January 1, 2012, by-the-way); I will continue to produce “Get Published” podcast; I will be trying to find a home for “GalaxyBillies; […]

Get Published Episode 73 – Jeremy Lassen & Nightshade Books
As I talked about last episode, I went to World Fantasy Convention hoping to line up some guests for the show. The first, with Michael Stackpole was a great conversation but there was a lot of background noise that I wasn’t able to clean up. My second interview also suffers from background noise, this time from people in the area. I kept trying to find different and better places to do the interviews but everywhere I went there were people. Today’s interview is with Jeremy Lassen, Editor-in-Chief at Nightshade books. My writing partner (JRMurdock) and I have finished the first draft of our YA Steampunk Novel. Even better, we have a publisher interested in seeing it. I know that we will sell this one. It was fun to write and, I think, fun to read too. I was able to meet the aforementioned JRMurdock at […]

I love it so much, in fact, that it sometimes cuts into my word count. But does that make it a timesink? I say no and I say that because one of the important activities for a writer (in my opinion, of course) is to connect with people. You never know who you’re going to meet online and ultimately your success as a writer is dependent on the books you sell. To sell more books you need people to know about them. To get people to know about them you need something that makes people aware […]
