Balancing Writing and Life

I am always running into the conflict of life versus writing. No, they shouldn’t be mutally exclusive, but the time they both demand is often in short supply. Take this week, for example. I am preparing to take holidays so work is extremely busy while I try to tie off loose ends. I also have a book launch coming up August 1st AND I’ve still got my normal writing (Boyscouts of the Apocalypse), editing (Mad Scientist Handbook, Jane Kane novel, GalaxyBillies) and plotting (Mik Murdoch 2). Too Much of a Good Thing

Have you ever eaten something and it was so good that you overdid it? Hours later when you are groaning and uncomfortable you ask yourself what you were thinking? Often (not always) you go back and do it all over again several days/weeks/months later? There are days when my writing projects feel like that. I’m in a very good place creatively right now. I know all of these very smart, very clever people and new ideas are popping up all the time.  The problem is, I keep taking on new projects. Get Published Episode 82 – Rebecca K. Rowe Comments Via Science Fiction

The most pressing is the YA Zombie podcast novel I’m working on as part of “The Action Pack Podcast.” I am writing and recording a new episode every month. JR Murdock and Scott Roche are also providing stories. Check out actionpackpodcast.com for more information. I’m also working on the Mad Scientist Handbook which is officially titled, “A Method to the Madness, A Guide to the Super Evil” with Jeffrey Hite. Jeff and I talk about the handbook in today’s […]

Mik Murdoch is into Final Edits

I received the last set of edits from my editor, Robert Runte, on Saturday. Robert’s comments were all very positive which was very gratifying to read. This version only has 150 required changes, most very minor. It feels great to have them now and to know that the story really doesn’t need any major work. Robert is (he says) very happy with the quality of the manuscript so that is encouraging. Now, I just have to work my way through and finish it. As in the previous version of the manuscript, we are working in Microsoft Word with Track Changes on. This is a great way to go because I can see Robert’s changes and comments and he can see […]
