There are a lot of times that I think I’m my own worst enemy. I get myself going on multiple projects, then, just for good measure, I throw a few more things into the mix. For example, I’ve got a couple writing projects, a book being revised, two anthology ideas developing and I’m going to World Fantasy Convention on October 27th. That should really be enough, but I’ve also decided to do NaNoWriMo again. Oh yeah, and those are only my writing commitments. I first met Jaym Gates and Erika Holt via Twitter. Jaym started out as a writer, added reporting, administrating and promotional work and then made a joke on twitter that led to her becoming an editor. Erika writes speculative fiction, is an intern for award winning anthologist Jennifer Brozek and reads slush for Scape, the e-zine of YA speculative fiction. As you may or may not know, on the 4th of July I had my first story published. It is a short story titled “Apprentice” and published by the new e-press/audio press Flying Island Press. It isn’t the first story I’ve sold. That will be coming out in the August 2010 issues of Sorcerous Signals (free e-magazine) and Mystic Signals (print – available on Amazon.com). Both of these stories represent firsts for me. First sale and first to see publication. They also represent a LOT of work; I’ve been writing for several years to get to this point.
