I’ve known there would be a sequel to Scouts of the Apocalypse: Zombie Plague since before I ever wrote the book. I’ve even had the broad, overarching story plotted for a long time. It was getting to the actual writing that proved problematic.
I made the decision back at the beginning of November that I would have the first draft complete by Christmas. I made a spreadsheet to track my progress and fancied it up by having it calculate how many words I needed every day to hit the mark.
Then I wrote new words. And then I let it sit for almost a week-and-a-half.
The entire time it sat, I agonized about it; why wasn’t I writing? So, after several days, I kicked myself in the pants and wrote some more. And I haven’t missed a writing day since.
If you’ve been following the progress bar on the front page of my blog, you will see it has been steadily climbing for Scouts 2. In fact, at the time of this writing, I’m well past 80% complete. And I will be hitting my Christmas deadline.
There will be edits and revisions to follow, but that is actually both less and more painful to do. Less, because the story is now written and only tweaking is needed. More, because I need to make changes to what I’ve already got.
Regardless, it will be in a form that is ready for beta readers by end-of-January/mid-February.
That’s where you come in.
If you would like to be a beta reader and, even better, an early reviewer, please email me. Indicate which you would like to do (or both) and I will set you up. I will send you a pdf of the version you want and I will keep you notified of where in the publishing process we are. It’s your chance to know something before the rest of the world.
I’m looking forward to working with you.
