Ramping Up

It’s no secret that I’m getting my new podcast ready.  As with anything new, it has been a big learning curve.  First, how to record, then edit, then cut a promo.  Now I’m working on getting the RSS feed ready for the first episode.  All that and a new job to deal with.

It has been hectic, to say the least.

It’s amazing how much time creating a podcast takes.  The recording itself is relatively quick, but there’s the scripting (unless you adlib it), editing and mixing.  They all take time.  I know, my 1 minute promo took me almost 2 hours to finish.  That could be because I’m a rookie or it could be par for the course.  Time will tell.

So what am I hoping to get from the podcast?

I think the single biggest thing I’m hoping for is to learn something.  Yes, that’s right.  I’m hoping to learn something.  I’m making it for selfish reasons.

You see, I want to create some serialized fiction in the form of a podcast/radio show.  In order to do that, I need some experience podcasting in the first place.  I’m also trying to get published so I’m hoping that while I’m putting the podcast together I’ll also learn about getting published through research, listener comments and any interviews I do.  The title of the podcast is “Get Published” after all.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping people would enjoy the podcast and get useful information from it.  I would love nothing more than for it to be a success.

Now if I can only figure out this darn RSS feed.

Personal Update

Nothing new to report.  I’ve managed some more work on the “Goddess” rewrite and I’ve received some good feedback from my Critters critiquers.  Once I get this podcast launched I’ll be spending more time on the actual rewrite.
