2015 has shown itself to be a banner year for me. Jeffrey Hite and I started our new imprint, Evil Alter Ego Press, our first book, Dimensional Abscesses was released and there are a number of big wins at work and at home.
And then June rolled around and upped the ante by a considerable margin beginning right on June 1st when Jack Kane and the Statue of Liberty (Amazon.com link) was released by Champagne/Burst Books.
Jack Kane and the Statue of Liberty (Kobo books link) is the first in the Jack Kane series written by JR Murdock and me. The book is a YA/Steampunk/Super hero/Adventure/Comedy mashup that was an absolute blast to write.
I can honestly say it was one of the most fun writing projects I have worked on and I am really looking forward to working on the next one.
The book has been skipping in and out of the top 100 Steampunk books since it was made available for pre-order, which feels great. What JR and I are hoping is that translates into a good number of sales so we can see the book transition from eBook-only to print book too (side-note: Champagne/Burst primarily publishes eBooks but will do print runs should the book perform well).
If you can help us out by picking up a copy, we would both appreciate it.
But that isn’t the end of the June awesomeness!
I also have Scouts of the Apocalypse coming out in both print and eBook formats June 15th!
And that means it is now time to reveal the simply AWESOME cover for the book which is another fantastic win from my good friend Jeff Minkevics who has also done the Dimensional Abscesses cover and both Mik Murdoch covers too.
This is a book that has been near and dear to my heart for a long time. I originally told the story around the campfire to my Scouts and it was such a hit, I wrote it down. Ever since I have wanted to see it published and now, after months of editing, revising and more editing, it is ready.
That doesn’t mean I don’t have a touch of angst about this book (will everyone love it as much as I do?) but I cannot wait for it to be in people’s hands.
I will be doing my first “Real” book launch on June 26th at Chapters Crowfoot (in Calgary), which will be fun. I will also be leveraging that launch to help fundraise for my Venturer Scouts (who originally inspired the story all those years ago) so it is doubly special.
I will post links for Scouts as soon as they are available.
