Get Published Episode 41 – Lindsey Grant talks NaNoWriMo

I get to talk to Lindsey Grant. Lindsey is the Program Director for NaNoWriMo. She has an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Mills College and was amazed to find the magical place that is the Office of Letters and Light. The OLL, for those of you who don’t know, is the wholly wonderful place that has conceived both NaNoWriMo and Script Frenzy. We talk about a lot of things including how NaNo started, what some of the NaNoWriMo goals are and how to “win” NaNo.

In the feedback section of the show I talk about some the things that have made NaNo so enjoyable for me.

Thanks for listening.

  1. Thanks for this awesome interview Mike. I’ve been getting pumped about my second year doing NaNo, and this makes me even more excited! My page all set up now with an image and synopsis of the book I’m going to write in November. The ideas are flowing and I plan on getting a solid outline down this month so I can keep the wordcount going in November. Can’t wait to see your wordcount skyrocket, it was an encouragement to me last year to see how fast you put the words down.

  2. Hey! What an awesome podcast, Michell!

I just want to say that I was really beaming when you were telling Lindsey just how awesome your ML’s are. *preens* Thanks! We do try our best. I do however, want to let you know that you said you had two ML’s, but this year we have brought in another ML. So, Calgary now has a total of three ML’s.

Lindsey was very informative, and you had really awesome questions! This was awesome, Michell.

  3. That’s awesome! I’m glad to hear you are ramping up. I know I’ve got to pin down the idea I’m going to write about and start planning it myself. Hopefully I can have another successful NaNo.

  4. I calls ’em like I sees ’em. 🙂

Glad to hear we have another ML on board. Hopefully that will take some of the workload off your shoulders.

Lindsey was great to talk to. Hopefully one of these years I’ll get down to the OLL for the after NaNo party.
