NaNoWriMo – Day 13

I was able to spend some quality time working on my NaNoNovel this morning. It resulted in almost a thousand new words toward my NaNo total. No new writing revelations though. I have figured out why I’ve been so tired. The time change to Daylight Savings seems to have thrown my system for a loop. It has meant that every evening when I start to write I get hit with a wave of fatigue. It makes it hard to concentrate, but I’m still getting the writing done. As expected, I didn’t have any time to work on my writing during the day, but I was able to get back at it in the evening. And I was even able to […]

NaNoWriMo – Day 12

I’ve come to the conclusion that I simply cannot make any plans with regards to my writing. This week has been even worse than usual. Probably why I’ve noticed it at all. Now before you say, “Michell, you’re already past the 30,000 word mark and the month isn’t even half over. Why are you complaining?” let me tell you the short, but sad story of my woes. Yesterday, I was home from work because of Remembrance Day (Veteran’s Day to all you Americans out there) and I had some crazy idea that I would get a lot done. So I wrote what I could and I began to look at what I need to do for the next portion of the story. It was also Remembrance Day today in Canada so I spent time reflecting on what that means to me. So many men and women have served in the armed forces so I can be free, it’s very humbling. My dad was in the Navy, my maternal grandfather was in the Army and my paternal great grandfather fought in the Boer War so my family has a history of […]

NaNoWriMo – Day 10

The frenzied pace of NaNoWriMo has caught up to me just a little today. I sat down this morning and looked at what I had left for plot elements in my story and knew that I was almost to the point where I either: a) do more plotting or, b) totally wing it and probably end up throwing most of the writing away in edits. Now, I am not adverse to rewriting. In fact, I’ve already written one scene twice and I’ll decide later which I like better. Having said that, I do want to keep as much of the writing as possible so I’m leaning more toward plotting some more. In all that thinking about plot, I didn’t actually […]
