NaNoWriMo – Day 3

Today was a bit of a bust. I got up early only to realize that I needed to get into work early too so no writing in the morning. Then I ended up working late too and I had promised to help a friend with some WordPress issues so no writing when I got home. Then I went immediately to my Mandarin class so no writing until late in the evening. By late, I mean it was 10PM before I got started. Ah well. I still managed to finish the evening with just over 7,000 words but I have to say it was a pretty gruelling writing day. Good thing it’s a priority or it wouldn’t have gotten done at […]

Your Regularly Scheduled Program

As most of you know, I am participating in NaNoWriMo again this year. I’m also trying something a little different. I’m going to do a daily writing blog to talk about my writing schedule, what has worked and what hasn’t. The dailies won’t be as comprehensive as my normal weekly blog but I’m hoping that by doing so I’ll have a better understanding of my own writing and you might get a inside peek of how I do things. I wrote a lot more dialogue this time than I have in some of my past stories. That’s partially because, as much as I can write some […]

It is National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo. Every year for the past several years a growing group of crazed writers get together virtually to try their collective hands at writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. The novel doesn’t have to be high art or even good. It just needs to be written. So why bother? Well, quite simply, you can’t edit words that don’t ever get written on the page. You also can’t get better unless you practice. Both are great reasons to […]
