Well, I actually did a 1000 words more than I reported yesterday. I’m not sure how I managed it, but I did. So, on to today. I managed about 300 words in the morning before work. Then I actually did some writing at lunch time. It won’t happen often, but it was nice to just sit and plunk away at the keyboard mid-day. I am certainly LOVING the story so far and some of the characters are really coming to life for me. I also had something cool happen. I wrote a scene that was really intended to do little more than transition the story and give a bit more insight into the characters themselves. Sounds kind of boring, right? […]

NaNoWriMo – Day 3
Today was a bit of a bust. I got up early only to realize that I needed to get into work early too so no writing in the morning. Then I ended up working late too and I had promised to help a friend with some WordPress issues so no writing when I got home. Then I went immediately to my Mandarin class so no writing until late in the evening. By late, I mean it was 10PM before I got started. Ah well. As most of you know, I am participating in NaNoWriMo again this year. I’m also trying something a little different. I’m going to do a daily writing blog to talk about my writing schedule, what has worked and what hasn’t. The dailies won’t be as comprehensive as my normal weekly blog but I’m hoping that by doing so I’ll have a better understanding of my own writing and you might get a inside peek of how I do things. I didn’t get as much written this morning as I did yesterday. Yesterday I had over 600 words before I left for work. Today is was slightly over 200. I attribute part of that to the preplotting I’ve done. The beginning of the story is MUCH clearer than the stuff that comes after (yes, that includes chapter 2). The story veered away from the plotting very slightly but enough that I had to think of ways to bring it back on track. I believe I’ve done that now so it’s back to work.
