NaNoWriMo – Day 7

As you may or may not know, I was out at a Scout Camp all weekend. Well, maybe not ALL weekend. We left early Saturday morning and came back this afternoon. As you can imagine, I didn’t get much writing done Saturday, but I did get enough done to say I did some. As for today, well, I deviated from my NaNo work in progress. You see, on the way out to the camp I was thinking about the fact that we are extremely secluded from civilization where we go. It’s not that civilization is hundreds of miles away or anything. It’s just that we are in an area where radio signal is poor to non-existent and cellphone coverage is […]

NaNoWriMo – Day 6

I really wanted to hit my 1667 words every day of NaNoWriMo this year. I wanted to not miss a single day working toward my writing total. I realized today, that goal is not achievable. At least, not this year. Too many commitments. Too many demands on my time. For example, today (early morning, actually) I set off on my second Boy Scout camp of the young scouting season. This time we are doing a survival shelter camp where the scouts learn techniques to keep the elements off them in case they ever actually are in a survival situation. NaNoWriMo – Day 5

I had really high hopes for the day, today. It’s Friday, of course, and I had no plans for the evening. That meant I had a great opportunity to write a HUGE amount on my NaNoNovel. Except, I had more plotting to do on it AND I had an interview with Kimi Alexandre for the next episode of Get Published. Interviews are always a problem for me. Not because I hate doing them, but because I LOVE talking to all the interesting people I get for the show. Kimi is no exception. She’s a writer, podcaster, blogger, voice actress and she’s got a cool new project call SpecFicDB (www.specficdb.com). She even has her own writing show so I knew it […]

NaNoWriMo – Day 4

Well, I actually did a 1000 words more than I reported yesterday. I’m not sure how I managed it, but I did. So, on to today. I managed about 300 words in the morning before work. Then I actually did some writing at lunch time. It won’t happen often, but it was nice to just sit and plunk away at the keyboard mid-day. I am certainly LOVING the story so far and some of the characters are really coming to life for me. I also had something cool happen. I wrote a scene that was really intended to do little more than transition the story and give a bit more insight into the characters themselves. Sounds kind of boring, right? […]
