Some Interesting links – January 29, 2011

I have the great privilege of following a lot of very creative, smart people on Twitter. Those people often have very good advice and blog posts on a regular basis and it (finally) occurred to me that I should be sharing their wisdom. So, I will be putting a post out every week of the things I’ve seen that I think are useful. Keep in mind, these are simply some of the things I’ve seen over the past few days. I’m sure there are plenty of things I’ve missed. Let me know if I should keep this up. On the Edge of Awesome

By appearances, 2011 looks like it will be a very interesting year. As you probably know, I have a book that is scheduled for release in 2012. That means I will be doing all those things that need doing to see that it happens. Revision, review and more revision. I also have several other projects to consider. As I said, I had planned on interviewing her about the topic of self-publishing and how it has changed for episode 50. Except, once she started talking I realized that there was much more information than a single show could hold. So I broke up the interview into two parts. […]

Things, they are a-changin’

Things have certainly changed since I started podcasting. Even more since I started blogging. For example, when I first started podcasting, the phrase “Self Publishing” carried a terrible odour. People who claimed to be self-published were held akin to vanity presses. Authors with true aspirations of writing full-time wouldn’t tread anywhere near the idea. That has changed a great deal. I know many authors who regularly use services like Smashwords to publish their work and make it available for sale. I have also seen and heard rumblings from several people (including both successful writers and publishers) that the major changes we have seen within the publishing industry are only the tip of the iceberg. I’m still trying to wrap my […]
