My guest today is Calgary author Simon Rose, who has published fourteen novels for children and young adults, seven guides for writers, almost 100 nonfiction books, and many articles on a wide variety of topics. Earlier this year he released Twisted Fate, the second installment of the paranormal Flashback series. Today, we’re looking at his latest release, the Shadowzone series. So what’s the Shadowzone series all about? The series involves the discovery of a grim dystopian version of Earth that’s ruled by a totalitarian dictatorship, the threat of a deadly virus, and a race against time to save the lives of millions. The Quest for Publishing Credits
I have heard (and read) for as long as I’ve been paying attention that publishing credits are important, especially for the fledgling writer. Now this might sound like a catch-22. You know the one: we can’t hire you for the job because you don’t have enough experience, but you can’t get experience without the job? Yes, it most certainly feels like that to me too. I’m querying and submitting to contests and publishers (and soon to agents). It’s not enough. I’ve got to start writing articles and short stories for various markets. I’ve got to get onto forums and special interest groups. Why? Because I can NEVER get my name out into enough places. OK, I think […]

Repeat after me: “Happy Anniversary, Get Published!” Say it everywhere you go. Shout it from the rooftops. If anyone asks what the heck you’re talking about, send them here. Sound like a plan? Well, maybe not, but I’m certainly pleased to tell you that this is my one-year anniversary episode. I’m even happier to have my friend, Simon Rose as my guest. Simon is an author with six YA Science Fiction and Fantasy novels currently in print. He is a tireless worker (OK, maybe he DOES get tired, but he still works hard) at promoting himself and his books. He is involved in several different capacities within writing and he has a lot of interesting things to say. I hope […]
