More Things to Share

It has been a busy last few months and things are really starting to roll for me. I have a book coming out in August, the anthology Jeffrey Hite and I have been working on now has a publisher (Five Rivers Publishing) and I have a brand new podcast about to debut this month. The new podcast is one of those projects that just feels right. I had the original idea flash through my brain when I heard what two of my online friends (JR Murdock and Scott Roche) were planning this year. They both have some pretty aggressive writing schedules for this year. Somehow, their plans made me think of a TV show I watched when I was young. […]

Get Published Episode 63 – John Mierau, Creative Force

John Mierau is a wordsmith, a story teller, a scifi and fantasy hack not to mention, first and foremost, a family man. He is also a fellow Canadian podcaster and, as far as the Parsec awards are concerned, one of my main competitors. He is also a great person to talk to and I am honoured to have him on my show. I also talk about doing guest posts and the value of it to both the post writer and the site owner. I hope you enjoy the show. Get Published Episode 46 – Jaym Gates & Erika Holt talk Anthologies

I first met Jaym Gates and Erika Holt via Twitter. Jaym started out as a writer, added reporting, administrating and promotional work and then made a joke on twitter that led to her becoming an editor. Erika writes speculative fiction, is an intern for award winning anthologist Jennifer Brozek and reads slush for Scape, the e-zine of YA speculative fiction. Both ladies have a lot of great things to say about putting together an anthology including common mistakes writers make and why some stories are chosen while others are not. In the feedback section, I have a question from DanDanTheArtMan about podcasting my stories and what I’ve learned. Thanks for listening. Show Notes 00:00 — Opening – Get Published Episode […]

Get Published Episode 32 – The Importance of Agents: A Conversation with CA Marshall

I had the opportunity to talk with Author, Freelance Editor and Literary Agency Intern CA (Cassandra) Marshall. We talked about the importance of agents to authors and a few other things too. It was a great conversation that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. I didn’t get any questions or feedback for this episode so I thought it would be nice to give you all a view of my own personal plan to publication. I talk about my four main tactics and the success I’ve had so far. Thanks for listening. -Michell Show Notes 00:00 — Opening – Get Published Episode 32 – The Importance of Agents: A Conversation with CA Marshall Everything has to start somewhere and this is the start […]
