I’ve been give a lot of thought about brand lately. What am I exactly? Author, YA Author, cheerleader?
This line of thought has come from a couple different incidents. The first was a request for my website link so promotion could happen for an upcoming Christmas fair. I’m going to have a table at said fair where I will be selling and signing books.
Then I had a request for my business card from a young mother who was considering buying my books for her child.
Both requests got me asking myself, “How do I want my target audience to see me?”
Don’t get me wrong, I love interacting with other writers through my blog. But am I reaching my core audience with my website?
So, I went looking at other YA-themed websites and quickly realized I’m not hitting the mark. In fact, I’m not even close. So, over the next month or so I’m going to be designing a new look for the website. During that time I will be collecting YA-friendly material to populate the site with as well.
I will NOT be discontinuing my blog. It just might not be so front and centre going forward.
Let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas of things I can do with my website to make it more YA-friendly.
