Today is the day. Yup, one of my life’s ambitions has officially been achieved. Today, Mik Murdoch, Boy Superhero is available for purchase in both paper and electronic format. Where you ask? Is it in bookstores? The answer is, “Probably not” and I am just fine with that. It IS available for order from practically every bookstore (both virtual and real) on the planet however. That is the most important thing to me.

I’m not doing an Amazon rush or anything like that. At least, not intentionally. I definitely would like to see it climb high in the rankings, if for only a little while. And, of course, I would like to see it continue to sell for many months/years to come.

The two biggest things I’ve learned in the journey to getting Mik published are: be patient and never give up. I mean, I started trying to get published more than a decade ago and Mik was actually written six-years-ago. In the time I’ve been submitting I’ve been rejected many, MANY times. Some of the rejections hurt quite a lot. There were even a couple times when I wanted to give up.

I am so glad I never gave into those negative impulses.

I’ve also learned that writing doesn’t have to be a solitary endeavor. There are thousands of other writers and wannabe writers who are either in the same place you are or want to be. Connecting with them and supporting each other is a fantastic way to go. I’ve got so many great friends that I know have my back because I was willing to open up and share my own journey. I know I will never be alone as a writer.

Oddly, some of those I know I can count on, I’ve never actually physically met. Technology and Social Media FTW!

So what is next?

Well, one book does not make a career. I’m already hard at work on the next Mik Murdoch book. In fact, in case you didn’t hear, I signed a contract for the next one last week. I’ve also got the Mad Scientist Handbook (A Method to the Madness: A Guide to the Super Evil) to finish editing with my good friend Jeff Hite plus a few other little projects I’ve got on the go.

I’m hopeful that success will breed more success. I know it has decreased my available time.

So, if you or someone you know might like to read a little story about a boy trying to be a hero, please consider Mik Murdoch, Boy Superhero.

Did I mention it’s now available? 😉
