An amazing thing happened today – I realized I finished the first chapter of my soon-to-be masterpiece. This is important to note as the very first book I wrote took me twenty-five (25) tries and several months. I have now managed it in one try and two days. Perfect first chapter? Not by a long shot. Written and therefore editable? Absolutely!
Challenges for the Day
Work. Again. Not that it was a bad day. It was quite good actually but it does take away from writing books time. 🙂
We also had the whole family together for dinner. That is a rare thing with both my kids/young adults/young grownups having their own lives. It was awesome but also meant I didn’t start my evening writing until almost 8:00 PM.
Number of Words for the Day:Â 2252 words
More words than yesterday. Not a bad thing. Every time I thought about calling it for the night I would look at my day’s total and tell myself, “I can do a few more. Let’s try to hit at least the same number as yesterday.” Before I knew it, I had. That puts me at about a +1000 words for NaNo so far (against the daily goal of 1,667 words per day).
How I Hit my Word Total for the Day
Like yesterday, I did the writing in two sections. I wrote about 300 words on my phone during my train ride into work. Then, at about 8:00 PM I sat down at my laptop and knocked off about 1950 more words.
That’s when I discovered I had actually finished a chapter.
Today’s Goal: 2103 words
A weird number, but I wanted to match yesterday’s output. And…I don’t have camp this weekend. I’m not crushed about it; I will have other opportunities (yes, opportunities) to sleep outside in the winter. In January, in fact.
