I thought it might be helpful to talk a little about my NaNoWriMo journey. To that end, I will be posting my daily totals, not to brag but to show how things are going and maybe motivate you (and me) to bigger things.
Challenges for the Day
Work. Definitely. It gets in the way of my writing progress while, at the same time, ensures I will be able to pay my mortgage and other bills for the month. Double-edged sword.
Also, I was tired. Had to go out for groceries right after work too.
Number of Words for the Day: 2103 words
A good total. I actually felt that I could have gone higher, but I wanted to leave myself in a place where I could easily pick up the story. That puts me at about a +440 words for NaNo so far (daily goal to hit total in 30 days is 1,667 words per day).
How I Hit my Word Total for the Day
I actually did the writing in a couple of sections. First thing in the morning I wrote about 300 words on my phone during my train ride into work. Not bad, but more painful than it needs to be. The second grouping (and much larger one) happened after I finally got home from grocery shopping. I pulled out my laptop and knocked off about 1800 words to hit my total for the day. That happened between about 7:00 and 8:30 PM.
For the record, I can type really, REALLY fast when I have the story idea fresh in my head.
Today’s Goal: 2000 words
I am potentially camping with my Scouts this weekend which will put a real damper on writing productivity. The whole, in the woods in -14C temperature,s are not very conducive for successful writing so I would like to have a bit of a buffer going into Friday.
