I constantly ask myself when I should promote a story or book. Do I wait until the it is actually available for pre-order, order or do I use some other criteria? I guess the question is more important to me because I grew up in the era when computer software was always being announced and promoted months and even years in advance. Sometimes the software actually appeared but often it did not. It was called promoting vaporware and I hated the practice. I simply don’t want to do that to my readers and followers. Things are moving fast and furious now with Mik Murdoch: The Power Within. My Publisher, Lorina Stephens from Five Rivers Publishing confirmed that all edits are accepted and the book is into layout. The cover is also complete and approved. All this means the book will be available August 1. I am happy to be able to share the cover with you today. As you may know, J.R. Murdock and I collaborated a couple years ago on a book. We wrote what we hoped would be the first book in a new YA/Steampunk/Superhero series. Writing as a team was a real learning experience with ups and downs, but we managed to finish the book, currently titled “Jack Kane and the Statue of Liberty”. J.R. wrote the protagonist POV and I wrote the antagonist. The story went through several editorial iterations before we felt it was ready to submit. And submit we did! Writing is often about luck and I know I’m VERY lucky to have stories appearing in two anthologies this month. The first story allowed me to revisit a character I’ve written about before.
