Excitement for the Apocalypse is Building

I have been working toward getting my book Scouts of the Apocalypse (formerly Boyscouts of the Apocalypse) published for a couple years now. For a number of reasons, that fire was rekindled in the past months and now, we are on the cusp of it being a reality. I’ve written about 20% new material for the original story (that was podcast and currently sits on Wattpad) to round out the characters and address a few of the comments from my beta readers. It doesn’t make it an entirely new story. Not by a long shot, but it does make for a better, bigger experience. In the process of the revisions I discovered what the next books in the series need […]

The Scouts are Coming to Save the Day

I have been involved with Scouts as a leader for more than twelve years now and I’m always getting something new and refreshing from my experiences with them. One thing I never really anticipated was the stories I would get from them. I mean, I get ideas from everything I do, but never did I think a full-blown story would come. I think I may have talked about my book Scouts of the Apocalypse once or twice. That book came from a campfire story I told my Scout troop. By the time I got home, I knew I had something special. Scouting has been a part of my life for more than a dozen years now and, the more involved I am, the more I realize how important a role it has played for me and my family. I wasn’t a scout when I was young. I lived in the country and going into town for scout meetings was inconvenient at best. So, other than the occasional time when […]

Beta Readers

I have always believed Beta Readers to be important to a writer. They are definitely important to me because, more often than not, my Beta Readers point out flaws in my stories that I am either unwilling or unable to see. For example, I’m currently editing/revising Scouts of the Apocalypse (formerly Boyscouts of the Apocalypse). This is a book I wrote some time ago for the Action Pack Podcast. I wrote it fast and episodically. When the story was complete I thought I had something that would be worth publishing. I converted the podcast script to a manuscript and sent it to a couple of my Beta Readers for comment. What I got back wasn’t quite what I expected but […]
