It has been a tumultuous week for me. I had the priviledge of interviewing J.C. Hutchins for ‘Get Published’ (GOOD) only to discover that half of the audio is incomprehensible and J.C. is booked solid for the next while (BAD). I am going to try and transcribe the dialogue and re-record it myself, but honestly, how good will a conversation between the same voice be? I’m planning to adjust the voice on J.C.’s side of the conversation just to actually make it sound like a conversation, but still. I can’t think of anything worse than to have your work finished only to watch it go away in a puff of smoke (maybe literally) if something goes wrong with your computer. You have several choices, not the least of which is to print out a hard copy of the work. There are also USB flash drives available for little money, online backups through services like Google docs or Symantec backup and you can burn the story […]

Well, it’s day four of my two week holiday and so far the break has been an editing success; I’ve managed just shy of 45,000 words worth of editing so far. Only 35,000 to go. To put that into perspective, I’ve been editing the story since the end of April and I was only 10K into it when we left. So why the big progress? Well, it doesn’t hurt that my wife loves driving. My job is to navigate so there are usually a lot of miles to review the written word between […]
