First of all, let me say that my change of plans is not a bad thing. I am not stopping anything that I am already doing (i.e. weekly blog entries or either of my podcasts). I’m not even reducing the frequency of what I’m doing. So just what the heck is going on? Enough mystery. Let me explain. It had been my intention to offset my two podcasts. Do ‘Get Published’ one week, ‘GalaxyBillies’ the next. They are currently being released the same week. I looked at that schedule and wondered if it wouldn’t be better (from a shear level-of-effort) to have them offset. I planned to do a quick release of ‘GalaxyBillies’ for a couple episodes to get me to […]

I Need to Do More
I came to a realization the other day: despite everything I am doing right now, I need to do more. A LOT more. How is that for an obscure opening statement? Do I mean I need to walk more, eat more or watch more television? No. I need to do more to get my name out there in the writing world. Sure, I’m blogging, podcasting, tweeting and facebooking. I’m querying and submitting to contests and publishers (and soon to agents). It’s not enough. I’ve got to start writing articles and short stories for various markets. I decided well before NaNoWriMo that I was going to do a Science Fiction/Comedy podcast (note: I didn’t decide I was going to do it well. That part is an on-going battle). It was only a matter of time. As the days became weeks, I decided I would release the first episode just before Christmas. From there I would release an episode near the end of January and every two weeks after that. Oh, and I wouldn’t have the story written in advance (yes, that actually was […]
Read moreIt’s OK to Delete
Have you ever heard the phrase “Kill your darlings”? If you haven’t or if you have but don’t quite understand what it means, it refers to deleting writing that is dear to you but doesn’t really add anything to your writing project. It is something that I have never liked doing. Every word on the page represents blood and sweat and effort that I have put into a specific piece of work. It was work to get it there so why should I delete it? Then I started working on ‘GalaxyBillies’. ‘GalaxyBillies’ represents a real departure for me. As much as I’ve always wanted to write humor, I have never had the nerve to do it. All my writing has a […]
