The End of Step One

I used to think that writing a book was the only thing I needed to do to be a writer. I guess in a way I was right. By writing, I am a writer. Just not a published one. Now that I have done some writing and even gotten a couple stories published, I know that the writing can be the easiest part (believe it or not) of the process. Story Ideas

With NaNoWriMo fast approaching, I wanted to talk about the process where I develop my own ideas into stories. For the purpose of this I will use a sample idea and work it through. Coming up with a story idea This is the single easiest part of the story for me. I get story ideas from everywhere all the time. From television, movies, other books, going for walks and hearing the news. The commonly held belief among “Experts” is that there are no new idea. Just new ways to execute them. The Plate Overflows

The weather is cooling off, the sun is going down earlier and the kids are back in school. It must be fall. Time to switch gears once again. Fall means a lot of changes to my schedule. I add both Scouts and Cub Scouts to my week (Scouts are Monday and Cubs are Tuesday), plus campouts. That sucks a lot of time. Time I’ve been using to write and podcast. So what do I give up? It’s Time to Start Thinking NaNoWriMo

You may think I’m jumping the gun a little when I say that it is time to start thinking about NaNoWriMo. After all, it’s only the beginning of September and NaNo is in November. Except, November is less than TWO months away and if you hope to hit the 50,000 word mark in 30 days you need to know what you’re going to write about.
