I’ve been thinking about my involvement in social media, podcasting and general networking, specifically with a focus on how I hope it will help me get my work published. I’ve come to a conclusion and it is this: the people who podcast thinking it will get them published directly are missing the point. Now, if you’ve read any of my posts, you know that I rarely make inflammatory comments. It’s not that I’m afraid of starting controversy, but rather I just don’t care to do so. Get Published Episode 28 – Tad Williams Talks Writing
I am delighted to announce this episode’s guest. Tad Williams, author of Fantasy, Science Fiction, comic books and much more joined me to talk about writing and how his career has evolved. For any of you who haven’t spoken to Tad or heard one of his interviews, he is a very interesting person. He had lots to say about his career and the business of writing in general. I also have a writing question from DanDantheArtMan about $100 words. And don’t forget to visit Paulette Jaxton at http://empresssword.com. Paulette purchased a sponsorship as part of the Boom Effect auction. Even if she hadn’t I would recommend her podcast. It is well worth listening to. This a monster sized episode but […]

I’ve got to give kudos to Scott for releasing this story for sale. Posting your writing at all is an accomplishment. Having the faith to put it up on Smashwords and actively seeking reviews is fantastic. My first criterion for a good story is one that gets my attention. There’s nothing worse than offering to do a review and having to work my way through the writing. This certainly fits in the good category. I enjoyed reading this story. The big question you might ask is why? Let me begin by saying Scott has put a lot effort into this […]

I’ve put a lot of time into my writing, podcasting and networking. But what will I do when I actually get that elusive publishing contract? I have some ideas, but nothing concrete. For example, I know I want to do signings, interviews (written, video and audio). I want to do readings at the local libraries, online, at schools and practically anywhere else I can think of. What I don’t have a plan for or really understand is how these various activities will benefit the sales of my book(s) and that is where I think the plan falls way short. Without some sort of idea what will and will not work, how do I know where to put my energy? For […]
