The Secret is (finally) Out

I’ve been hinting at a secret project for several weeks/months that I finally announced during Episode 53 of Get Published. For those of you who either don’t listen to the show or haven’t yet heard, spoiler alert. You may want to avoid reading further until after you have listened to the show. For the rest of you, read on. The secret project is actually my first collaborative writing project. I am working with author, podcaster and social media personality, JR Murdock who currently has two books up on Podiobooks.com. We are writing a Steampunk, YA, Superhero mashup. Get Published Episode 53 – JR Murdock Self Publishes Astel

A Twitterfriend of my mine, JR Murdock, is self-publishing his YA Fantasy novel Astel. He tells me it is partially prompted by this show and the growing interest and success of self-publishing. Especially for eBooks. Naturally, I had to get him on the show to learn more about his endeavour and what he has learned by doing it himself. He has become quite the resource for DIY publishing. He has also kindly provided a rebate code for his book in case you would like to purchase a copy of your own. For the print edition –  https://www.createspace.com/3551482 and use the discount code HCKBWXRB to get $2 off For the ebook edition – http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/43948 – SQ67K to get 50% off I was also fortunate […]

Interviews, blog tours, talking to book stores, getting all the various social media outlets setup. I am self-publishing a book. That means revisions, layout, getting cover art and, as above, all the promotional elements. […]

Upheaval

There’s nothing quite like starting a new job (or having a baby or buying a house or…) to throw a wrench into one’s writing schedule. As you no doubt read in earlier posts, I have been suffering a bout of writing doldrums that I only just started to drag myself out of. No sooner do I begin that fight than massive change hits. Don’t get me wrong, the change is a good one. It means working in my field again for a company that already seems pretty awesome. My co-workers are all very helpful/friendly and I actually get to read again (something I sorely missed). Still, there is something inherently stressful in a new job. You want to make a […]
