Mik Speaks

Mik_3Hi there. Mik Murdoch here. My biographer, Michell Plested, has kindly allowed me to talk a little about my newest adventure.

For those of you who have been following my adventures, you know that I decided to become a superhero a couple years ago. The one problem I was up against? I didn’t have any super powers (note: Mik Murdoch, Boy Superhero).

I was and still am an avid comic book reader and I have read countless stories about ordinary people like me who regularly get super powers of their own. If they could do it, why not me?

Turns out, comic book people have a slightly easier time to get super powers than people in the regular world. That didn’t stop me from trying though. I did a whole lot of different things in my first book to get super powers of my own.

I hate to spoil it for you but, in my second adventure (Mik Murdoch: The Power Within), I DID get a super power. No, I’m not going to tell you what it was. It wasn’t quite what I expected. That’s all I’m going to say.

I guess I started to act a little weird because Mom and Dad took me to the lake for the summer to, “relax.” I don’t know exactly what relax means, but I was excited to learn about a mystery that had been around the lake forever. Like, a hundred years at least.

I spent the summer investigating the mystery, learning to swim and most importantly, learning to use my super power. Oh yeah. I may have made a friend along the way too. There were a few exciting points along the way: I battled wild animals, almost got eaten and scared my pal Krypto half to death.

And now, a third set of my adventures is available for readers. The book is titled Mik Murdoch: Crisis of Conscience. I’m not exactly sure what that title is supposed to mean, but my biographer assures me it is correct. It all begins with mysterious snow circles appearing in fields around Cranberry Flats. If you know me at all, you know I’m going to look into the mystery.

When I start to investigate, I begin have weird dreams warning me to ignore them. Let me tell you, it takes more than a dream to stop me. I keep trying to solve it right up until something terrible happens to my family. That throws my whole world upside down. Obviously that becomes more important than some silly old markings in the snow, even if they are created by aliens like the mayor claims.

A lot of things go on and, as much as I hate to admit it, I make some mistakes. I make some decisions I’m not exactly proud of. But, as Mom and Dad have told me, when you make a mistake, admit it and try to fix it. And that’s what I did…and I do solve the mystery, btw. But, I don’t want to say too much. That would only spoil it for you.
