Fun and Creativity

I have always liked to create things. When I was young(er?) I would make things out of wood and paper and whatever else I had at hand. I’ve also always written stories. Granted, most of my stories were childish and not terribly good, but I was able to write them and feel good about what I’d put on the page. That is even more true now, although I put the added pressure on myself of wanting the stories to be publishable. And, in the case of Mik Murdoch: The Power Within, I want the book to be equal to or better than the first one in the series. Get Published Episode 126 – JR Murdock & Michell Plested Sold a Book!

Happy New Year and welcome to the first episode of 2014, which is also my sixth year podcasting. With the exciting news of our new book deal, JR Murdock and I decided it might be time to talk about our collaboration one more time. It has been quite a while since we last gave any tips or talked about what we had done. Besides, we are both really stoked to be bringing the book out for everyone to enjoy. We just want to spread the news one more time. I also came across something that hasn’t reared its head before. Tying a sequel novel into the previous one. That became very evident when I got my first round edits back […]

Get Published Episode 124 – Nila E White Talks about Lucky or Unlucky: 13 Stories of Fate

I thought it would be fun to talk with Nila White who is the editor and publisher of the anthology. So on today’s show, Nila and I discuss the anthology and what went into its production. I also have to apologize. Things are pretty crazy and, as you might be able to tell from my voice, I’m sick. There won’t be a Tips and Typos section in today’s episode. Still, the conversation with Nila was great and is worth listening to. Enjoy the show. Show Notes 00:00 — […]

In this case, the experimenting has been around marketing and promotion, two things I tend to be very bad at for my own work. I can talk up other people and their work until the cows come home, but I always seem to have difficulty talking myself up. But I digress. Lately I have been reaching out more to agencies that can shelve my books (the latest was the local public […]
