I constantly ask myself when I should promote a story or book. Do I wait until the it is actually available for pre-order, order or do I use some other criteria? I guess the question is more important to me because I grew up in the era when computer software was always being announced and promoted months and even years in advance. Sometimes the software actually appeared but often it did not. It was called promoting vaporware and I hated the practice. I simply don’t want to do that to my readers and followers. The Galley Has Landed

The next major step in getting Mik Murdoch: The Power Within released has hit. I received the galley for the book last week. What happens next is I go through the book and check for spelling & grammar issues. That means any mistakes are ultimately my fault. 🙂 After that, the book should be ready for printing, Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) and August release. Exciting stuff! So, a short update but lots going on.

Taking the Night Off

Last night I did something I haven’t done in a while: I went out for beer and ribs with a couple writer friends of mine to just…well to just talk. I’ve heard different people say that talking about writing is a lot like literary masturbation (yes, I just said that). Essentially, they are saying that it is fun to talk about writing but it doesn’t ultimately get any writing done. That is absolutely true, but what they fail to say in that rather disturbing turn-of-phrase is that sometimes it’s good to just talk shop. Down But Not Out

I’m developing a theory about my own busy life. Basically, the theory is, as long as I’m running full-out, I won’t have time to get sick…or die…or whatever. If I can do that, I could become technically immortal. Okay…I’m not actually that deluded (or egomanical) but it sure sounds good. I mean, every time I work to my limits of capacity, when I finally allow myself to slow down for even the briefest moment, I get sick. Not every time, mind you, but often enough.
