I used to think that writing a book was the only thing I needed to do to be a writer. I guess in a way I was right. By writing, I am a writer. Just not a published one. Now that I have done some writing and even gotten a couple stories published, I know that the writing can be the easiest part (believe it or not) of the process. I was reminded of this when I looked at my most recently completed story. As you may or may not know, on Sunday I finished writing my podcast novel, GalaxyBillies. It was a lot of work but it is finally done. At least, the podcast version is. I hadn’t been […]

Story Ideas
With NaNoWriMo fast approaching, I wanted to talk about the process where I develop my own ideas into stories. For the purpose of this I will use a sample idea and work it through. Coming up with a story idea This is the single easiest part of the story for me. I get story ideas from everywhere all the time. It all began with a three week writing hiatus while on holidays. Then I started a new job with all the upheaval that comes with it and my kids are going back to school and… Well, suffice it to say, there are many new […]

Instead, I’m thinking about writing an ending to my SciFi/Comedy podcast ‘GalaxyBillies’. For those of you who have been following GalaxyBillies, you know that there are only a few episodes left (three, I think). I’ve enjoyed writing and recording the story but, I must confess, I will be glad to have it finished. Why? Certainly not because I don’t like the characters or the story itself. Discovering both has been a real joy for me but it has been a LOT of work. I’ve got other stories to write and a novel to finish revising. I’m just eager to get onto […]
