(Perfect) Promotion and Marketing

Do you have $10,000,000 to promote your book? No? How about $1,000,000? A big budget is certainly one way to hit all your target markets and get the recognition for your work that you feel you so richly deserve. The problem is, will you EVER recoup that investment? I know working from a limited budget (and even more limited time) means I have to really think about what I’m going to try next. So what avenues are available to we authors? Reviews (not a rant)

I actually started writing this post several days ago. Except, at that time, I was writing it more as a rant than anything that might be useful. Let me begin by explaining why I was upset and felt the need (which I overcame…eventually) to write a rant. Reviews are extremely important to anyone with a product. Books, as you might guess, are products – they are the result of a lot of work, creativity, (more) work and stress, but they are products nonetheless. Convention Fun

This weekend marks the third When Words Collide (A Festival for Readers and Writers). For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to attend, it is one of my favorite conventions. It started out fantastic and has only gotten better. I approach these types of events with several goals in mind: meet and network with people – this is a wonderful opportunity to meet my readers and get to know other writers, editors, publishers and marketers in a friendly environment.
