I won NaNoWriMo on November 28th. At about 8:30 PM is hit 50,000 new words for the month of November. Shortly after I typed the two words I had been waiting for in my book: “The End”.
It was an amazing feeling. Those of you who have completed a book know what I mean. You’ve spent weeks, or months or even years working on a book. It has taken on a life of its own. At times you aren’t sure it will ever be complete.
Then, on that fateful day, you are able to finally say it is finished. I always make a point of typing “The End” in my books. Those words don’t make it into the published novel, but they are the line in the sand. The draft is done. Now, I’m officially into editing mode.
I hoped NaNoWriMo would help me complete Mik 5 and it didn’t disappoint. Will I compete again? Almost certainly.
What’s next?
JR Murdock and I have connected and agreed we want to write the next Jack Kane book. We are already scheduled to meet and talk about next steps.
I am also going to begin plotting out the two other books I plan to write in 2024. I think December is going to be a plotting month with some editing thrown in for good measure.
What about maintaining this website?
I likely won’t be posting daily like I did in November (yes, I know I missed a couple days) however my plan is to get back on a regular posting schedule. I’m open to suggestions for content. If there is something specific you want me to post about, let me know.
What I have reminded myself is, this website is important to me. I hope you get something out of it too.
